Making over your kitchen? Try some of these tips to make your transition a little easier.
Paint is one of the most versatile decorating tools there is. A fresh new color on the walls will do a lot to lighten and brighten, but don’t stop there. Consider repainting the kitchen cabinets to completely transform the look… since the cabinets take up most of the wall space in most kitchens. Melamine paint is best for kitchen cabinets. It’s tough, easy-to-wash and can be tinted in a variety of colors. Some types of flooring, such as wood and sheet vinyl, can also be painted. Check with the paint supplier for the correct usage.
Try it out: Bring home paint chips and other samples that you’re considering and try different combinations in the actual room in natural light. It’s the most effective way to decide what you can — and can’t — live with.

Change all the hardware on the cabinets and drawers. There are all kinds of great designs, from forks and knives to other more sophisticated modern looks.
Change the kitchen faucet. Many of the new faucets are specially designed for do-it-yourself installation, using just basic tools. Cost can vary so keep your budget in mind.
Add new mouldings. New crown mouldings or chair rails are another quick and easy one day project. For instant elegance, you can also add crown mouldings to the top of plain cabinets.

Wow, I LOVE that last kitchen!! The depth and texture is just fantastic. From the floor to the ceiling to the white on the louis chairs. I'm not sure I would have thought to use so much dark wood in a kitchen but it turned out so great!!
